Both round and square bale hay is big year-round business for Lone Oaks Farm, the largest in southwest Tennessee. Most hay fields have been renovated with hybrid Bermudagrass, and the farm has invested in the newest and most efficient equipment for baling round and square bales and in its buildings for storing baled hay indoors.
Hay is produced as a feed supply for our purebred Angus cow herd and is also marketed to Mid-South horse and cattle producers. The main hay barn is nearly an acre under-roof with 120 feet by 256 feet of free-span space 25 feet high, making loading of hay convenient for customers.
Vaughans #1, Tifton 44, and Midland are the hybrid hay brands harvested, along with Common Bermuda. Hay fields are regularly tested, limed and fertilized, and baled hay is tested for moisture content and protein yield.
Lone Oaks is constantly seeking nearby land to lease for cutting hay. Contracts can be for shares or rent.
Customers interested in picking up round or square bales in the field and purchasing at a discount may contact the farm for upcoming baling times. Lone Oaks provides convenient loading of your trailer in our Hay Barn, or for a reasonable charge will deliver hay to your farm.
